The Teatro Echegaray is a theatre located at number six on the street that bears its name, Echegaray Street, situated in the historic downtown of the city of Malaga.
This historicist and eclectic style building with handcrafted decoration was built in 1932 by the architect Manuel Rivera Vera.
Initially designed as a movie theatre, after a restoration process concluded in 2009, it has been converted into a venue to hold all kinds of shows. The plans for the restoration work were developed by architects Francisco Peñalosa Izuzquiza, Salvador Moreno Peralta and César Olano Gurriarán. Retractable stands, that can be folded or extended according to the type of show or staging, were installed. The new theatre has a capacity of 304 people.
